Great family game
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this game, but I am really glad I purchased it. The overall concept is the same as the Monopoly board game, but doesn’t take all day to play. (However, it’s so fun you will want to play more than one game at a time!)

The directions actually make it seem more complicated that it is. After one game, it was easy to play and understand.

I would recommend this for ages 10 or 11 through adult.

Original and fun card game idea!

How do you improve on a fun game like Monopoly, make it a card game! Was skeptical of yet another “version” of this popular name, but this game takes the cake. We’ve played so many different types of Monopoly, i.e. Star Wars, Dogopoly, Lighthouse-opoly, Electronic Monopoly, etc. they are all just the same game with a different name and have become a bit monotonous and long-playing. This put the fun back in the game for our family. We played it at least eight times the day we received it, which was yesterday. Depending on number of players, strategy and luck of the draw, this game plays from 15 – 30 minutes on average. While the directions look daunting at first, it’s final instruction of “just play it and it will become clear” really says it all. Some questions about game play aren’t addressed in the instructions, but it’s nothing a bit of “googling” couldn’t answer, or, if you wanted to, you could just make up your own rules for these few minor discrepancies. All in all a great game recommended by this family of ages 11-40+.

Almost Perfect!

This game is SO absolutely fun!!!

The only thing I would change is the instructions a little. some of the rules seem unclear or are simply not mentioned. You almost have to come up with your own rules to playing.

Overall, I ended up purchasing 1 for myself, as well as a couple as stocking stuffers for Friends & Family for the holidays!

My New Favorite Game!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love Monopoly, but I don’t have time to play it anymore. Monopoly Deal Card Game is a great solution! It’s affordable, fun, and not nearly as long as a classic game of Monopoly. It seems a little confusing when you’re reading the directions but we picked it up pretty easily once we started playing. I prefer to play it with just two people but it’s just as fun in a group. It has the same basic game setup as classic Monopoly but with a fun new twist. My friend and I can play for hours and trust me, we do. I would recommend this game to anyone, even those who aren’t a fan of classic Monopoly.

Great card game to spend time playing with friends
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Wonderful fun game, played it with 2 and 3 players and we love it. However anymore and you may run of or cards to draw or you may have to alter the winning conditions for the extra players or just have another deck of cards. Players can compete by bankrupting other players and force them to pay using their cash or property or just use action cards to still it in crooked deals. Great laughs.

trust the instructions, it DOES make mroe sense to play

So my boyfriend bought this game for us to play becuase we love monopoly but hate that it takes 6 years to finish a game. This game is fun, addictive and makes so much more sense when you play than just reading the instructions. It’s pretty self explanatory and involves end of turn strategery to win :-)

Monopoly Deal card game…one word ADDICTING
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have been playing this game for almost 2 months, we are on our 4th deck if that tells ya anything. You can play several games so it goes much faster paced then the traditional board game and its much more fun and great brain stimulation..haha! Its basically a strategical game but dont let that hold you back because if you love the board game you will love this card game even more. It definitly brings a challenge to the table. We have introduced this game to others and they are addicted as well. It is sooooo much fun. I am not poker or ueker player as everyone else i know that is and this game finally includes me in and makes me feel as good as a player as them all they no longer wanna play any other games that is great news for me as i no longer wait hanging in the background wishing they play a game i would enjoy.

So if your looking for a fun family/friend game this is it. Now only plays up to five players in which we have found takes apprx 45 min to play w/5 people, apprx 35 min w/4, apprx 15-25 minutes w/3 people and apprx 5-15 minutes w/2 people ..so as you can see we play alot and it dont take long to play, we’ve gotten pretty good to get the game going quick, the directions are not hard to figure out may seem too much at 1st they are pretty simple and not too complex and you will come to find questions aobut this and that. Just follow the directions, play about the 1st 4-5 games as beginners letting all see cards in your hand to figure it out. Then all play on your own, its easy to get the hang of it even for kids. There are some things we’ve pretty much had to set some rules of our own because the rules are not complex, which is no big deal it just comes down to common sense.

This is the best game ever and it can get frustrating because u can be so close to winning as the game can be taken out from under you by one card but its just a game. We have gone as far as marking down the winner of each hand and when the night is thru the person with most wins is the champ. We are about to gather all of our friends who we’ve gotten addicted to the game and have a tournment which will be so fun i cannot wait! What shall be the prize? A new deck of Monopoly Deal of course! haha! Try it out its real inexpensive for such a fun and challenging game, it really brings the family together and the kids will be be asking to play all the time as family time is well needed for families these days. Oh my you may be begging for some1 to play you and if they are already into the game wont take much to get em to play. My husband is very smart and has wonderful luck in winning almost anything plus hates to lose and its wonderful to see him flabergasted when i or the kids get the win..haha!!

All I can say is we bought the game at 5pm on a Thursday evening and was up until 1:30am playing. We got in the bed. Talked about how much fun it was and then decided to PLAY IT AGAIN THAT NIGHT! We have taken it with us EVERYWHERE and we have also transformed all of our friends into addicts. And I am talking about adults, so I know that children will love it!

This is the best thing since SLICED BREAD!

WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a MUST buy!

fun game, even better once modified
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a great “travel” Monopoly game. The one remark I want to make though, is that there are probably too many “money” cards and not enough “rent” cards. In other words, the money supply seems to far exceed the money demand in this game.

So, what you normally end up with, are the losers of this game finishing with a ton of money in their banks because they never had to pay out much — not very realistic to have losers who are very wealthy.

To fix this problem, buy two of these games and take all the “rent” cards out of one game and add them to your other game. This will make money a more valuable resource since the increased # of “rent” cards will present a larger danger to each player’s bank.

This will also have the effect of rewarding players who lay down property cards so that they can collect rent from them — the whole reason that you want to own property (and play the game of Monopoly) in the first place, right?

I also think this increases strategy somewhat because it puts you at a decision between using your property to collect valuable money or hoarding the property in your hand to keep it protected. As the game is now, it’s pretty much a no-brainer that, of the three types of cards, the property card is the last type you want to lay down (unless you have very powerful action card).

Easy to learn & Quick to play
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this game based on previous reviews with high ratings. This is one of the best card games I’ve ever played and it is very easy to learn. The rules may seem tricky at first, but it is easy to learn in one round. I’ve played this for a couple of months, and it’s become a craze in my family, among friends and my co-workers. It’s a great “game night” game to have. If you love monopoly (the classic version) but want a quicker version… then buying this game is a must. I’m definitely buying a few sets as Xmas gifts :-)

Monopoly but funner and faster!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this Monopoly Deal card game because we liked Monopoly, the traditional game, but that game was always too long and who has time nowadays to spend hours on a game? So with these cards, it was fast and fun. Objective: To obtain full colored sets of properties while trying to avoid paying rent or having your property swiped by other players. Unlike the traditional board game which has things like “pay…taxes”, or “get kicked out of jail,” or “go directly to jail,”, these cards deal mainly with real estate and then gives you options at the draw of a card to complete your sets, collect rents, go “pass GO!” (which allows you to draw two more cards and widen your options), and so on. There are also hotel and house cards to add to your property cards! There are wild cards to fill out your color property sets as well as advantage options like cards that say, “Just say NO!” which allows you to stop an opponent from taking your property or asking anything of you.

We did about 5 games in 1 hour and 15 minutes. We played as two players but there are options for four or six or more players. With six players, get a second deck per the instructions. We found it fun and intuitive after a while and really enjoyed it. We will share this game with our friends soon.

Pros: 1) Has the traditional similar “traits” of the original game. 2) Can be played quickly, averaging about 10 to 20 minutes per game, 3) Has enough variable ways to play and win. You can win by the instructions of being the first person to have three full sets of properties. If you want to extend the games by a larger margin, you can go for full asset points by adding up all your money AND your property values and be the first one to get to 500 or even 1,000 points. These last two variables are what some people do although I haven’t seen the instructions for it. We have only played the 2-player way.

Cons: 1) Instructions are not as clear as they could be. If you know the original game, it will work better for you. 2) There are situations that arise that are NOT covered in the instructions, 3) There are only THREE houses and TWO hotels available in the whole deck. 4) Some people complain that the “Deal Breaker” card (able to take another players set of properties) ends the game too soon. When the deal breaker card comes up and is used in the play, we often still have half the deck left. 5) sort of picky: The card sizes are slightly smaller than standard. While it makes it easy to put them in columns to line up your properties, some people complain they are slightly too small. It didn’t bother me however.

I would overall recommend the game anyway! It has the fun of Monopoly, is faster, and funner! You can play several games, get there faster in your property goals, and have a variety of ways to make the stakes more interesting! I just bought a second set so we can have more players or we can make the game more variable! It is really fun and time flies by fast!

One note: There is an indication on the Amazon website: “Warning, choking hazard…” The only thing that might be considered a choking hazard is the wrappers that the cards come wrapped in. There are no moving parts, no game pieces or anything – just the cards wrapped in plastic wrap, the instructions and the small box the cards come in. It’s about as dangerous as a deck of regular playing cards.

“While the rules were confusing at first, once we got the hang of things we have really enjoyed it. Be warned that the rules are actually much simpler than you expect them to be – which causes some confusion as you get going.”—-I couldn’t agree more. I passed it up so many times in the store thinking that it sounded too complicated, then a couple weeks back I broke down and bought it anyway. We have had so much fun playing this. We hadn’t had a family game night in a while because there seems to be no time. This game takes just the right amount of time and we have had so much fun playing it that we have played at least one hand every night since we got it. My son (8) and I are big monopoly fans and my husband isn’t but we all three love it!

Our favorite card game!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have 6 kids and love this game! Kids can play if they have to be able to read the cards on their own, or they can play with a partner. It doesn’t last long but has the same fun qualities of Monopoly – money, property, and that little bit of meanness that helps you get out any hidden aggressions! We are buying a second set – in the instructions it says you can play with twice as many people with 2 sets mixed together. We can’t wait. It will just make it all the more fun!

Just a note – the “meanness” factor of Monopoly has been a great tool to helping my kids learn to be good sports. It’s all part of the game to steal a property or request money for your birthday. The kids get used to it and realize that’s just part of the game and their turn will come around too.

Easy to learn, fun to play!

Fun overall concept… once you figure it out
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Since our family loves Monopoly we thought this could be a fun new take on an old standby. While the rules were confusing at first, once we got the hang of things we have really enjoyed it. Be warned that the rules are actually much simpler than you expect them to be – which causes some confusion as you get going. Whereas the object in the traditional board game is to get as much money as you can and bankrupt your opponents, the only object here is to be the first to get three full sets of properties.

Here are the basic rules for those considering a purchase. Each player starts with 5 cards. On your turn you draw 2 more cards. Then you can play up to 3 cards by either putting money or action cards into a personal bank, putting down properties, and/or playing action cards from your bank into the center. There are many different action cards. Some examples are force rent, double the rent, steal an entire set, force a property swap, etc. The trick is making the best decision on which cards to play since you will want to play all of your cards at once. But you can’t earn any money from your opponents, and thus weaken their position, without having these cards out on the table. The danger is that other people can steal these cards from you. Really that’s basically it. Simple, brief, and fun.

After playing three full games, which probably last only about 15-20 minutes, we really have the hang of it and are having lots of fun with a variation one of our favorite games.

Better than the board game
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It takes only 1 game to understand the rules and from that point on it is the best game. It takes about 15-20 minutes per game and we usually pay 3 or 4 games at a time. It better to alter the rules and it is easy to extend the game by increasing the number of properties you need to win but it is not necessary.

Definitely pick it up.

Card game
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This is a potentially fun idea. The directions are a bit complicated and take some getting used to.

We had thought the game was going to be a quick and easy version of the classic.

Loads of fun!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this over the weekend, and took it to a family gathering. This is the first time that people have ever been asking to play Monopoly with me. It required strategy and thinking like the regular game, but moves much faster.

The ONLY negative that I could see is that the instruction sheet is very poorly written. It makes it seem much more complicated than it really is.

They fixed Monopoly!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m not really going to talk much about the specifics of the game play, as other reviewers have already done that quite adequately. But I will say I generally disliked playing Monopoly the “bored” game. It was too long and seemed far too based on luck for my tastes. The card game is also luck based, to be sure, but I find that it has added some much needed strategy to the game. Deciding when the best moment to charge rent, place properties and steal properties can make an seemingly uneven game turn around quickly. It is rare for such a turnaround in a regular Monopoly game; if someone gets good rolls of the dice and hits all properties the first few times around the board, there aren’t many built in ways to catch up. Also, the end game in regular Monopoly is so dreadful. Two people with hotels on several sets of properties trading cash back and forth while the other players have to go amuse themselves with something else. This doesn’t happen in the card game as you are never out; there is always a chance you can get back in the game. One other bonus with the card game is it can actually be player by two players, something you can’t really do with the board game.

My only beef with this game is the quality of the cards. I was really disappointed that the cards are just cheap, glossy, paper cards. I would expect for the price they charge for this game to have a higher quality card. In fact, I’m on Amazon right now looking for a deluxe set to buy hoping the cards will be more durable. I knock 1 star off for that, since I think we are going to wear out the cards too fast. But that should tell you how fun the game is that we actually play it that much!
